German & English teacher
Hello, my name is Alexandra Ruhmannseder, and I am proud to serve as the head teacher of our kindergarten. With over a decade of experience in early childhood education, my journey has been one of continuous learning, passion, and dedication to the well-being and development of young minds.
I began my career as a preschool teacher in August 2006. Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with all the groups in our kindergarten, gaining invaluable experience and insights into the unique needs of children at various stages of their early development. This hands-on experience has shaped my understanding of how to create a comfortable, inclusive, and stimulating environment for every child.
In 2019, I completed advanced management training to take on the role of head teacher. My responsibilities now include leading the kindergarten with a focus on logistics, effective communication with parents, staff management, and, most importantly, ensuring the happiness and holistic development of your children.
One of my special roles is teaching German as part of our language development program. I work closely with the Green and Blue groups several times a week, helping children build their German-speaking skills through engaging and interactive activities.
I am deeply committed to fostering a space where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. I look forward to continuing this rewarding journey alongside our wonderful team, children, and families.
I
Hello, my name is Sara.
I’m originally from Italy but I have spent almost 10 years in Ireland, Aotearoa New Zealand, and Canada, where I’ve gained experience in Early Childhood Education (ECE). Over the years, I’ve worked with children of various ages, from infants to toddlers and preschoolers, in both home and ECE settings. My approach is influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, which focuses on child-led learning and fostering a strong connection with nature. I enjoy integrating the scientific knowledge I gained from my degree in Natural Science into my teaching, helping children explore the wonders of the natural world.
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, with a thesis focused on bilingualism in early childhood, and a Postgraduate Diploma specializing in Infants and Toddlers. I have also completed a Master’s in Pedagogy. In my thesis, I explored how educators can contribute to the early identification of children with autism and the strategies available for supporting them. Languages are a passion of mine. I speak Italian, English and Spanish fluently and I have basic knowledge of French, Māori, and German. I believe that languages are a powerful tool for connection and understanding, particularly in multicultural settings, where they enrich the learning environment for children.
I recently moved to Vienna and am thrilled to join the Yellow Group team at Vienna English Preschool in September. I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues, meeting all the families, and creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
(Educational leave until March)
My name is Verena. Originally, I am from Upper Austria, but I moved to Vienna in 2021.
I cannot wait to be a part of the Yellow Group team at the Vienna English Preschool and I am really looking forward to meeting every unique child. J.
I completed the College for nursery education with additional training in early years education in 2017. I have always enjoyed spending time with children, babysitting for different families, helping in a children’s choir, doing an internship in a kindergarten in the UK and working in summer kindergartens before I even had my qualification as a kindergarten teacher.
These experiences helped me accumulate valuable knowledge and develop skills in the field of childcare.
After my graduation I went to the USA for a year to work as a live-in nanny.
In 2018, I began working as an early year’s educator in Upper Austria, where I took care of toddlers between the ages of 1.5 - 3 years, until I moved to Vienna.
Last year I worked in an English Kindergarten/Pre-school in Vienna, and I am really excited to be a part of the VEP team now.
I feel honored to be a part of the children’s crucial first years and will continue to strive to create the best learning experiences for them in a fun and enjoyable environment.
It is significant for me that each child develops a positive bond/relationship to their caregivers/ teachers which is the key for their learning progress.
A smooth transition from your home to our Preschool is my main focus, as well as catering to the specific needs of each child in order to ensure they feel secure, comfortable, and most importantly happy.
I am really looking forward to getting to know you and spending a wonderful time with your children while creating a cooperative partnership with you.
If you ever have any concerns, problems, or suggestions, please let us know! I am open to everything and wish your children only the best.
Good cooperation is everything and it contributes to the well-being of your child. My priority is that your child is happy J.
Hi! My name is Joslynn.
I'm originally from a small town called "Dryden", which is located in Ontario, Canada. I'm very creative, have a love for singing, music, sports, travelling, going on adventures outside and basically anything beauty related! At the end of 2016 I graduated from Makeup School (Blanche MacDonald, Vancouver, B.C) and took a few extra courses throughout the year to get certified in other beauty services. I then became self-employed with my own business at the beginning of 2017. After two years of working for myself, I decided it was time to pack my bags and leave my hometown to go explore Europe.
I came to Vienna, Austria at the beginning of 2019 and fell in love with not just the city, but the country. I decided to stay for longer and one year turned into three, as I was lucky enough to get visas to stay. During this time (beginning 2019- end of 2021) I worked for many different families, including working for an American Diplomatic family on a sponsorship program for one year, and being an au-pair for an Austrian family for another year.
In December of 2021, it was time for me to return to Canada as I had used up all my available visas. I then started working for a kindergarten in my hometown, where I realized just how much I truly loved working with children! I helped in the preschool room and got to run my own afterschool program. I also had the opportunity of taking on a wide variety of roles during my time there, which I quickly learned just by doing.
Months passed and my heart was still in Vienna, I knew I had to try my hardest to return. So, I then came back for summer 2022 to enjoy my time here with friends, expecting to go back home to Canada in August. Luckily, in the middle of summer, I got amazing news! I got accepted for my German Citizenship and I can thankfully say that I can stay!
VEP felt like home from the minute I walked in and met the staff! I'm very excited for my future here and thrilled to continue to grow my experience in childcare! I'm looking forward to meeting you! Kind reagards Joslynn
Hi! My name is Zinnia, and I have lived in Vienna for the past two years. I am really excited to join the VEP team as a Teaching Assistant!
I believe that for a child to thrive, they need to feel safe, included, and engaged in their environment. This means that I pay lots of attention to the unique needs and personalities of each child, ensuring that they are able to grow, play, and learn in a space where they feel confident and supported in. As a creative person, reading, storytelling, and arts are a passion of mine. I also believe that creativity is essential to a child’s development, I am thrilled to share this with the VEP children to support them in tapping into their personal creativity.
I was born in California, but I also grew up in both Thailand and Sweden. This experience has fuelled my appreciation for international and multicultural communities, something that I am very proud to be a part of. I am fluent in English and Swedish, but also have some familiarity with German, Thai, Hungarian, and Spanish.
I have been working with children for around 8 years alongside my studies in International Relations and Geography. My love for working with children began with my very first job as an assistant at a kindergarten in my hometown in Sweden. Over the years I have babysitted for families, worked as an English teacher, and as a summer camp supervisor for young children. These experiences have provided me with the invaluable tools to foster a nurturing environment for young children and I am delighted to be able to continue my journey of early childhood education here at VEP!
