The Yellow Group

The Yellow Group is for toddlers between 18 months and 3 years old.

Hello, my name is Peter and I come from England.

I have been working in bilingual kindergartens in Vienna as English teaching assistant since October 2010 and worked with children from the age of 1 to the age of 6.

I joined the Vienna English Preschool in March 2012. I started briefly in the Green Group, but after a short time I moved to the toddler group to learn more about the early year’s education. During my time as an assistant I discovered that I thoroughly enjoyed working with young children and playing a vital role in their development. My interest in early years learning led me to enrol in a Diploma in Pre-school Practice in 2014.

I have since completed my diploma and am working as a teacher in the Yellow Group. At this stage of a child’s development it is essential we as a Preschool progress and enhance their physical, social, emotional, cognitive and language skills.

My aim is to enable your children to build their independence and self-confidence. I believe it is important to encourage them to bring out their individuality and help progress their social skills in a safe caring environment.

Hello my name is Tyler, I was born in Northern Ireland and moved to New Zealand at the age of 3.

I am the oldest of 3 children in my family and my parents have always been busy working, therefore I took on a lot of the childcare responsibilities at a young age for my two younger brothers.

I took part in numerous after school activities such as dancing (mostly ballet), singing and acting. I was with a youth musical theatre company since the age of 10-17 and ended up becoming a tutor and caregiver for the younger pupils. This gave me the years of experience I needed to realise that I really enjoy working with young children.

Since the age of 17 I joined a full time ballet school in New Zealand with the hope of becoming a professional dancer but unfortunately I had to stop due to a bad injury.

Soon afterwards I decided to move to Vienna and I was thrilled to find an opening with the Vienna English Preschool. I am looking forward to helping the children grasp the English language and learn the basic skills that are so important at their age.

Hello, my name is Alexandra Hold and I am originally from Tirol.

I have been living in Vienna and working at Vienna English Preschool since 2006.

Before I moved to Vienna I worked in America as an Au-pair for half a year.

During this time I mainly had the chance to see the educational system through visiting different kindergartens and I gained more experience working with children.

When I started working in Vienna English Preschool I took over the pre-school class, preparing the children with the right skills to start school.

In March 2008 I moved to the toddler group to get more experience in early childhood education.

Since I had always dreamed of going to Australia to see how the school education functions, I spent four months working and studying in Australia.

I brought back a suitcase full of new ideas and projects, together with the Cambridge Certification in advanced English.

I have been on maternity leave since April 2014. I have enjoyed watching how fast my son, Simon is growing-up. Being a mum has shown me how important it is, to give a child a happy and caring environment so they feel safe and comfortable. This is our main goal in the yellow group. The child should be able explore and play and through that it will learn the most for his future development.

I am so happy and excited to be back at work to support the upbringing of your child.

Hello, my name is Diana and I come from western Canada. After finishing University (Bachelor of Science degree) and working in the Agriculture and Environmental fields for a few years, I spent some time travelling. At this time I met my husband, who happened to live in Vienna. After several visits and taking a TEFL course (teaching English as a foreign language) in Prague, I moved to Vienna in the beginning of 2012.

During my first few months in Europe I had the opportunity to volunteer at a children’s hospital in Romania where I spent two weeks playing games, and providing comfort and care for abandoned babies and toddlers. This was a powerful experience for me and I discovered a real love of working with children.

Since then, I studied a Master program in Environmental Science and spent two years teaching English to children ranging from 1-10 years old. I enjoy singing songs, reading, and doing arts and crafts with children. Having studied science, I have a special fondness for encouraging children’s curiosity about the sciences and exploring the natural world around them. Being involved with children learning new things and watching their personalities blossom and shine brings me great joy.

It is a great opportunity to join the VEP team and I am excited to share my affection for the sciences and to help provide a cheerful and engaging environment for your children to learn and grow.

(Teacher on maternity leave)

Hello, my name is Catherine and I come from England. I have a Diploma in Preschool Practice and have been working at the VEP since 2006.

The Preschool years are extremely important in terms of a child's development as this is when they learn communication, social and physical skills. Children should be given a positive introduction to learning while being encouraged to be independent, as this is essential for building self-confidence, individuality and vital life skills.

I find it fascinating working in such an international environment where many children are either bi-lingual or even multi-lingual. My aim is to provide the children in our care with a nurturing and emotionally supportive environment which is key to language development. Children are encouraged to learn the English language through music, books and various activities, either in groups or on a one-to-one basis. We provide a vast range of stimulating materials and activities designed to challenge and encourage your child's learning and development in a secure surrounding.

I am here to assist with your child's transition from home to our preschool as smoothly as possible by meeting your child's individual needs.
