The Blue Group

The Blue Group is for Preschoolers aged 5 to 6 years.

My name is Natasha. I spent my early childhood in the US and moved to Austria when I was three years old. I grew up bilingual German-English, as my parents are Swiss and British. My entire schooling was in German, but my home language always remained English.

My childhood dream was to become a kindergarten teacher. At the age of 14 I changed schools to make my dream job a reality. At 19 I graduated as a kindergarten teacher.

I worked as a teacher in the Green Group from 2006 for two and a half years and then moved to the Blue Group. I worked in the preschool group for five and a half years. I love teaching children fun topics, doing crafts and working on new skills with them. Watching children become more independent and developing their own personality brings me great joy.

In 2011 I married an Austrian and a few years later gave birth to a lovely little girl. We are raising her bilingual English-German, which has given me even more insight on bilingual upbringing and education. I find it such a privilege for children to grow up with more than one language.

While I was on maternity leave I wrote, illustrated and published my first English children's book ''The Adventures of Bucklethorn Forest''. This was another dream come true for me.

I am delighted to be back at the preschool and once again working with your lovely children.

Hello, my name is Wayne and I come from a small town in England called Corby.

After finishing college I began working and teaching the guitar to children who were looking to learn a new instrument or at the request of parents. After doing this for a while I realised I have a great passion for learning and also teaching people new things and seeing them grow from it. I also played in a band myself, and we decided to tour Europe and play music. In June of 2013 I decided I was going to move to Vienna, one of the places I visited during my travelling.

After being given the opportunity to work at the VEP I am extremely excited and driven to help teach and bring out the best in the children, I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for learning and music with them and seeing their personalities and skills grow and develop.

German teacher

Hello, my name is Alexandra and I am originally from Tirol. I have been living in Vienna and working at Vienna English Preschool since 2006.

Before I moved to Vienna I worked in America as an Au-pair for half a year.

During this time I mainly had the chance to see the educational system through visiting different kindergartens and I gained more experience working with children.

When I started working in Vienna English Preschool I took over the pre-school class, preparing the children with the right skills to start school. In March 2008 I moved to the toddler group to get more experience in early childhood education.

Since I had always dreamed of going to Australia to see how the school education functions, I spent four months working and studying in Australia.

I brought back a suitcase full of new ideas and projects, together with the Cambridge Certification in advanced English.

I have been on maternity leave since April 2014. I have enjoyed watching how fast my son, Simon, is growing-up. Being a mum has shown me how important it is, to give a child a happy and caring environment so they feel safe and comfortable. The child should be able explore and play and through that they will learn the most for their future development.

I am so happy and excited to be back in the Blue Group to support the education of your child.

(Teacher on maternity leave)

Hello, my name is Emily and I come from North Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

In April 2013 I completed a Diploma in Early Years Education and started working as a teacher in the Blue Group.

I have an honours degree in Languages and Tourism Management from University in Edinburgh. After completing my degree, I decided to work and travel abroad. I obtained my TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) qualification in Buenos Aires and spent 3 months teaching English to adults and children. I then spent another 4 months travelling around South America.

I spent the majority of my childhood in America and Italy and spent a good deal of my education in international schools. My interest in languages and the study of tourism makes working in such an international environment a very exciting experience for me. As well as English I speak German, Spanish and conversational French.

I also have a love of Dramatic Arts which started at school, where I completed all levels of the LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) qualification.

I am looking forward to helping your children grow in confidence and guide them through a very important and exciting stage of their lives.
